Grammy nominee Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon possesses a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degree in Music Education. He received his first Grammy nomination for a collaboration project he did with The Jordanaires (one of the most influential vocal and recording groups in history with membership in the Gospel and Country Music Halls of Fame), Nokie Edwards (former lead guitarist for the top hit-making group, The Ventures) and The Light Crust Doughboys (longest-running band in the history of recorded music and credited with inventing Western Swing music). The album "Southern Meets Soul: An American Gospel Jubilee" sprinkled elements of R&B and Soul with the rootsy-Americana, southern and country gospel sound to create a masterpiece.
Dr. Gordon and his orchestra/show band (The Music People
Luv Band) repertoire consist of Big Band, Pop, Country, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Gospel,
and Rap/Hip-Hop. He performs nationally and abroad before some of the most
affluent people in the world (to name a few): Prince Albert of Monaco, Regis
Philbin, Mart Hart, Congressman Jack Kemp, Jerry Jones, Oprah Winfrey, Sharon
Stone, Roger Moore, Margaux Hemingway, Robert Loggia, Bernie Kopell, Eric
Braeden, Monica Seles, Neil Simon, Gary Collins, Mary Ann Mobley, Eva Gabor,
Debbie Reynolds, Jim Nabors, Ross Perot, etc. For nine consecutive years, the
highlight of his yearly tour was the American in Monte-Carlo Festival held in
Monaco.
To his professional live performance experiences, he has either shared the stage with or opened up for some of the biggest names in the music industry: James Brown, Tony Bennett, Lynn Anderson, Willie Nelson, Brooks & Dunn, the late Gregory Hines, Chuck Berry, Tanya Tucker, Rita Moreno, Commodores, Dennis Edwards and the Temptations, etc. (to name a few).
Not only is Dr.
Gordon a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and engineer, he served as an
adjunct Associate Professor at Brookhaven College; Director of All College Bands
(former Bishop College); member of Who's Who Among Americas Teachers; member of
ASCAP; a voting member of The Recording Academy; alternate on the 43rd and 44th
Annual Grammy® Awards Craft "Producer of the Year" Committee (Texas Chapter);
and a motivational speaker. Watch for more to come from an artist that will take
the music industry by storm!
"ComMUSICation" -- T-Byrd's here to give you an education by communicating to you through music. This CD is several levels above "Da Byrdman Cometh" cause he's giving you more horn and vocal tracks. Nothing but easy listening Jazz and R&B. Lil' Larry even wrote one of the tunes to further show that communicating through music has no barriers. And to communicate that point musically...T-Byrd cross-collaborated genres where the south met his soulful roots.
"Southern Meets Soul" is a collaborative effort from genres not tapped in recent years. It's a jubilee of American music in the style of southern and country gospel. Definitely an exciting new sound but not a brand new trip for the Jordanaires, The Light Crust Doughboys, Nokie Edwards, and T-Byrd. And if you know T-Byrd's sound and style, you definitely know he's blowing from his soul. Buy your copies today!!!!
